La Roque- Gageac is recognised as one of ‘Les Plus Beau Villages de France’ and deservedly so with its narrow lanes and lovely landscapes you may well wonder how so much beauty can be found in such a small space. It has a stunning position on the north bank of the River Dordogne and is truly a picture postcard village.
You might like to stroll through the tropical garden as you walk up the hill, the variety of plants made possible by the micro climate as the cliffs protect it from cold weather from the north while the open view to the south ensures plenty of sunshine.
From here we take a river trip on the Dordogne in one of the traditional flat bottomed sailing boats which is great fun and gives you views that you won’t see anywhere else. You will learn about the nature and history of the area, see the chateaux and the sights with your on board guide.
We also visit the fortified town of Domme, perched on a cliff its viewpoint offers magnificent views looking out over the Dordogne Valley.
