Enjoy all the on board activities this morning as we slowly cruise towards the rural calm of the little town of Bouchmaine, enclosed between rivers and the countryside. After lunch on board we set off to explore the rich architectural heritage of the city of Angers.
Surrounded by vineyards Angers offers an eclectic mix of culture, urban chic and a relaxed pace of life. You can see its castle, the former residence of the Dukes of Anjou in the 14th and 15th centuries. Flanked by seventeen towers, this impressive medieval fortress is home to a masterpiece: the breathtaking Apocalypse tapestry, part of one of the most important collections of medieval tapestries in the world.
The ancient cobbled streets of the old town have a distinct café culture with historically rich street-scapes and great shopping opportunities, whilst the stained glass windows of the St Maurice Cathedral draw you inside.
