Morning departure to travel across country to Lincolnshire and our hotel in Grantham, set in the countryside. Our stay is for 4 nights dinner, bed & breakfast with three evening’s entertainment of live music, bingo and a quiz.
Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre, Museum and Hangar are located within RAF Coningsby. Six Spitfires, two Hurricane Mk 2Cs, a Lancaster as well as a C47 Dakota and two Chipmunk aircraft are maintained in airworthy condition, and are regularly flown by serving RAF crew. Volunteer guides are available, many of whom have experience of the aircraft, and readily provide information and anecdotes about them, as they show you these beautiful machines at close quarters. The museum is well worth a visit, and there is a small refreshment and picnic area. The shop is well stocked with aviation souvenirs.

Magnificent City Of Lincoln
Lincoln is a beautiful city with a medieval centre comprising cobbled streets surrounding the magnificent 12th century cathedral. Lincoln is a city that is rich in historical experiences to explore, whether they are peaceful cobbled back streets, or the imposing Castle. There are plentiful antique shops and stylish boutiques, as well as quirky independent shops, tea rooms and pubs.
Beautiful Barnsdale Gardens
Barnsdale Gardens are a delight for any aspiring or experienced gardener, comprising 38 individually themed garden ‘rooms’ set in 8 acres of grounds. Meander through the gardens, taking notes, admiring the collection of plants, gathering useful hints and tips on gardening matters. A lovely tea room provides refreshments, or lunch if preferred.
Melton Mowbray’s History Of Pork Pies
Melton Mowbray is a typical English market town, with a wealth of farming and food history to enjoy. Melton Mowbray is well known for the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie, which was granted PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) status in 2008. This means that only pies made with uncured pork, and within a certain geographical zone around Melton Mowbray can be called Melton Mowbray pork pies.
Belton Country House
Belton Country House is a lovely country mansion set in formal 17th century gardens and parkland. The 1300 acres are home to 300 fallow deer. The mansion house houses impressive collections of porcelain, paintings and books. There are beautiful scenic walks through the formal gardens, and further to the park and woodland. A pleasant restaurant provides light refreshment, and there is a gift shop.
Homeward Bound (Friday)
A leisurely breakfast in the hotel before leaving for our journey home, arriving back late afternoon.
