In the afternoon, our host Michel will take you into his Schnapps Museum in the hotel’s wine cellar, explain how this impressive liquor is made and provide you with a sample or two!
MONDAY Tratzberg Castle, Rattenberg & Lake Aachensee
This morning we visit nearby Tratzberg Castle, perched on a hilltop above the Inn Valley. We take the little train to climb to the castle entrance for a tour of this 500 year old castle. As you wander through the magnificent vaulted halls you will learn about the families who lived here, see the valuable art works and paintings and learn about the secrets and scandals of castle life.
Then on to the delightful little village of Rattenberg, known as the glass town of the Tyrol. Enjoy its medieval atmosphere, its lovely little shops and watch a glassblower at work in one of the many glass shops of the town that produce the beautiful crystal ware. There is also a local handicraft museum you might like to visit and you have the opportunity to take some lunch in one of the many cafes or taverns offering local delicacies.
In the afternoon we take a drive along the shores of beautiful Lake Achensee, the Tyrol’s largest lake nestled beneath the beautiful scenery of the Karwendel mountains, to visit the village of Pertisau on the western shores of the lake. After some time here we make our way back to Pill and our hotel.

You will be free to explore whichever of Innsbruck’s attractions appeal to you most.
Some of the city’s main attractions include the Imperial Palace, one of the most important cultural buildings in Austria. With its magnificent State Rooms and Imperial Apartments it dates back to the 16th C and tells much of the history of the Hapsburg Dynasty.
There is also the futuristic Hungerberg Funicular Railway that starts right from the heart of Innsbruck’s old town to the Hungerberg mountain for great views over the city. More than just a railway, travellers from around the world come not just to travel between the stations but also to marvel at the sheer impressiveness of its design.
