We start our tour with a visit to the wonderful gardens at Hestercombe, just outside Taunton. They offer glorious planting interspersed with temples, lakes, cascades and woodland spanning 3 centuries of historical garden design. Gertrude Jekyll and Sir Edward Lutyens worked on a joint Arts and Crafts collaboration of the formal gardens. There is also a restored 17thC watermill complex as well as a gift shop, plant centre and café.
We make our way to our hotel in Torquay where we will be offered refreshments whilst the luggage is transferred to our rooms, giving time to relax and unpack before dinner in the elegant Romanoff restaurant. You may like to enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the lounge bar which leads to the sun terraces with extensive views over the bay.
